Get Healthy in 10,000 Steps

We all strive to be as healthful as we can be but we do not always have time that we need to get in all of the exercise that is required to be so. This is one of the reasons that this ten thousand step method has become popular. The plan is that you take at least ten thousand steps each day (walking) which will help you get very healthy and cut down on the time that is required for exercise. Walking is fantastic physicalexercise and really low impact. How often have you over heard a doctor say "just a single walk around the block helps your health"?

Obviously, getting in ten thousand steps on a daily basis is going to be challenging. That's a great deal of steps to take! The very good news is that you almost certainly already take nearly all of those steps each day already and don't know it yet. What you might want to do is learn how to incorporate a few more thousand steps to get to the objective. So how do you accomplish that without resorting to basically strolling back and forth for hours on end?

There are several obvious strategies that you can use to increase your step count. Use the stairs instead of the elevator--that's rather simple. Parking at the far end in the parking lot is also a good idea at the mall or the store. Keep the car in one spot and walk your bags and boxes out to the car after you finish shopping in each store instead of just carrying more and more things with you as you run your errands and go shopping. Choosing public transit is fantastic because doing so includes a walk to and from a bus or train stop which is excellent for increasing your step count. The most apparent way to do it, of course, is usually to just take a quick walk each day.

Some less evident ways to increase your step count are also available. Plan a grocery shopping list differently. Lots of folks plan their lists according to the aisles of their stores. You could choose to order your list based on category like meat, product and dairy. Then shop according to the order of the list. Sure you can wind up running back and forth through the store but it's great for taking extra steps every day. Instead of placing your mailbox as part of your front door or installing it in a wall of your home, put it out by the curb on a post. This can create at least one or two dozen steps to your count when you check the mail every day.
There are plenty of ways to take extra steps everyday. As you get familiar with the idea of walking 10,000 steps a day you'll think of great ways to accomplish this goal faster. Thankfully, each and every step you take--whether it's walking toward the refrigerator or going for walks on a treadmill, counts toward your end step count goal. Have fun with it!
