Moving your body can be a privilege and a joy. But unfortunately, I’ve noticed (especially while spending more time with older relatives recently), that so many people view physical activity as a punishment. For anyone who feels that way, I want to help turn that attitude upside down. And a great way to start to flip the script is through a movement program that will meet everyone right where they are, and show them just how much they can do.
That’s why I’m so excited to introduce this 5K (3.1 miles) training plan. I’ve designed it for everyone, all faces and all paces. All you need is a pair of running shoes and maybe some headphones to get going.
You’ll see throughout the six weeks that it incorporates a lot of walking and different kinds of exercise—not just running. And I promise you that this mix of yoga, strength training, walking, power walking, jogging, running, and stretching will get you across the finish line.
Running can be daunting, but it’s my hope that the jogging and running in the plan will start to be something fun—heck, even exhilarating. A big part of running for me is music. I’ll be posting playlists of my favorite songs to run to on my Instagram, but I encourage you to DJ your own running sets with songs that make you feel happy, and like you just have to move. Try out running for the duration of your favorite song, just see how it makes you feel!
If you’re just not feeling it some days, know that that’s totally okay. Listen to your body before you listen to me. I’ll be right there with you, and you can even DM me on Instagram if you want to talk it out, before you run it out.
I can’t wait to cross the finish line with you. Now let’s get after it!
