With stress existing in many of our lives today, not only can exercise help us lose or maintain our weight and stay in shape, but there are a number of health benefits that can be achieved as well. When you exercise regularly you can reduce high blood pressure, strengthen your muscles and bones, and improve your metabolism just to name a few.
Starting an exercise program can be very challenging and difficult to start. The first thing that should be done is to consult your doctor before starting any exercise program. Another good thing to do is to research and learn as much as you can about the different types of exercise that exists.
In the beginning, you will most likely start out doing low intensity exercises. You will need to learn about the different aerobic and strength training exercises that exists. As you become more experienced and build up endurance and strength, the intensity can be increased to a medium and high intensity level.
There are different types of exercise, such as, aerobic and strength training. Aerobic exercises are very good for the heart and lungs. This is a very good way to burn calories. The amount of calories that one can burn depends upon the intensity of the workout. There are many different types of aerobic exercises that can be done. This is important not only for the different intensity levels that one is at, but to keep the exercise fun and challenging.
Examples of aerobic exercises include walking, bicycling, dancing, hiking, swimming, brisk walking, running, and stair climbing.
Some of the examples above, such as running, are high intensity level exercises. Normally, you will do these types of exercises when you exercise daily and have reached a point where you need a more intense level.
Strength training is also important and usually involves resistance type training, such as weights. Again this type of training can be done at different levels, just like aerobic training. This type of training helps tone muscles, increase bone density and strength. Just like aerobic training, strength training helps increase metabolism, thus allowing you to burn more calories.
It is also important to warm up and cool down before and after each workout. One can also hire a personal trainer to assist and setup an exercise program and regiment.
